Young Adults
A group for Jewish young adults in their 20s to 40s living in Vancouver.
In the year 2000, a Federation survey estimated two to three thousand Jews living in Downtown Vancouver. With the Yaletown boom those numbers have reached the upper range, including hundreds of Jewish young adults in their 20's, 30's and 40's. Two years ago, recognizing the need for creative and quality programming addressing the younger sector, we formed Young Adults, a program dedicated to creating educational, social & networking events. All of our programs also attract and serve the broader Vancouver Jewish Community.
Ongoing Programs:
Friday Night Live!
A delicious monthly Shabbat dinner, taking place the last Friday of every month, attracting hundreds of young adults. A great opportunity to socialize and meet new friends, this program has also been done in cooperation with MoisheHouse Vancouver.
Educational Events:
A monthly lecture hosted in the private homes of Downtown young adults. Topics range from dating & relationships to current events and are usually chosen by participants. Past events included Finding My Soul Mate, Lasting Love, Why Marry Jewish?, More intimate More Innocent, Bashert Chance or Destiny.
Social Events:
Our frequent social events connect young adults in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Past programs include a day of cycling around Vancouver's scenic seawall path, kayaking on the shores of beautiful Indian Arm in Deep Cove, summer BBQ's and a hike at Hollyburn Mountain.
Networking Events:
Downtown Vancouver is also the heart of Vancouver’s business district and is home to hundreds of young Jewish professionals. The Jewish Business Network (JBN) offers quality courses on dilemmas in business and workplace ethics, including courses accredited by the LSBC for CPD. The JBN also provides young professionals with an opportunity to network while enjoying a nice lunch break.
